OHL Roundup: Bertuzzi scores three goals as Storm beat Knights 8-5

GUELPH, Ont. - Tyler Bertuzzi had a hat trick and added two assists as the Guelph Storm scored five times in the second to beat the London Knights 8-5 on Friday night in Ontario Hockey League action.

Jason Dickinson scored twice and had two assists for the Storm (27-17-4). Zac Leslie, Tyler Hill and Pius Suter rounded out the attack while Justin Nichols made 18 saves in net.

Max Domi and Christian Dvorak had a pair of goals each for London (30-15-3). Chandler Yakimowicz had the other. Emanuel Vella suffered the loss after turning away 9-of-12 shots in 22:47. Michael Giugovaz made 12 saves in 35:45 of action.

Guelph went 2 for 3 on the power play while the Knights scored twice on five chances.

KINGSTON, Ont. — Dylan Strome scored a pair of goals as Erie held on the beat the Frontenacs.

Remi Elie added his 20th of the season in the second period to put the No. 5 Otters (34-10-3) ahead 3-0.

Conor McGlynn and Corey Pawley responded in the third period for Kingston (17-20-7). The loss was its fourth in a row.

WHALERS 3 BULLS 0

PLYMOUTH, Mich. — Alex Nedeljkovic stopped all 41 shots he faced as the Whalers shut out Belleville.

Matthew Campagna started the scoring on the power play in the first period for Plymouth (16-27-3), which snapped a three-game skid. Sonny Milano extended the lead and Francesco Vilardi added a short-handed goal.

Charlie Graham kicked out 30 shots for the Bulls (19-22-6), who have now lost six straight.

GREYHOUNDS 4 BATTALION 3 (SO)

SAULT STE. MARIE, Ont. — Justin Bailey scored the decisive goal in the shootout as the No. 3 Greyhounds won their ninth straight by edging North Bay.

Anthony DeAngelo, Nick Ritchie and Tim Gettinger had goals in regulation for Sault Ste. Marie (36-9-2).

Kyle Wood had a hat trick for the Battalion (23-12-10).

RANGERS 5 ATTACK 2

KITCHENER, Ont. — Nick Magyar struck twice and added an assist as the Rangers topped Owen Sound.

Mason Kohn, Brandon Robinson and Adam Mascherin also chipped in for Kitchener (21-15-9).

Jeffrey Gilligan and Erik Bradford scored for the Attack (20-16-9), who have now lost three straight.

67'S 5 STING 0

OTTAWA — Nathan Todd scored twice and Liam Herbst turned aside 21 shots as the 67's blanked Sarnia.

Jeremiah Addison, Trent Mallette and Brendan Bell supplied the rest of the Ottawa (25-18-3) offence. The 67's have won seven of their last 10 games.

Taylor Dupuis made 21 saves in net for the Sting (23-18-6).

STEELHEADS 3 WOLVES 2

SUDBURY, Ont. — Bryson Cianfrone and Nathan Bastian scored in the third period as Mississauga came back to beat the Wolves.

Sean Day started the comeback for the Steelheads (20-25-3) with a goal on the power play.

Jacob Harris, on the power play, and Pavel Jenys had goals for Sudbury (7-37-2), which dropped its 16th straight.

PETES 5 GENERALS 4 (OT)

OSHAWA, Ont. — Michael Clarke scored a power-play goal 2:27 into overtime as Peterborough edged the No. 1 Generals.

Eric Cornel, Nathan Pancel, Greg Betzold and Josh Maguire also had goals for the Petes (18-22-5) in their third-straight win.

Cole Cassels struck twice for Oshawa (38-7-3). Stephen Desrocher and Michael McCarron also scored. The loss snapped a seven-game winning streak.
