* Sidney Crosby (0-5-5) matched a career-high with five assists to take sole possession of the League lead for assists (17) and points (24). He also had five assists on Mar. 10, 2013 against the New York Islanders and Dec. 13, 2006 against the Philadelphia Flyers when he scored a career-high six points. Crosby is the first player to post five helpers in a game since Jamie Benn on Nov. 14, 2013 (1-5-6). He now has points in 19 straight games against the Buffalo Sabres (10-26-36), his longest active point streak against any team.

* Jakub Voracek (0-3-3) extended his point streak to eight games, one shy of his personal best set from Dec. 9 to 28, 2013. He has seven multi-point games this season and at least one point in 13 of 14 games in 2014-15. Voracek ranks second in the League in assists (16) and points (22).

* Tyler Seguin scored his sixth career hat trick (fifth in 94 GP with the Dallas Stars) and second this season (also Oct. 14 at the Columbus Blue Jackets) to move into third for goals (10) and points (19, tie).

* Playing in his 600th NHL game, Phil Kessel scored to push his point streak to six games (4-7-11) and move into a share of third in League scoring (8-11-19).

* Patric Hornqvist had three points for the 15th time in his career (last: 2-1-3 on Oct. 18 against the Islanders) and now shares fifth in League scoring with 9-9-18 this season.

* Mark Giordano stretched his point streak to six games (4-7-11), the second longest of his career (4-6-10 in nine games; Jan. 14 to Feb. 1, 2014). He leads all defenseman and shares fifth in League scoring with 5-13-18 this season (16 GP).

* Claude Giroux also had three points in Philadelphia's win; he has six multi-point games in 2014-15 and is tied for fifth in League scoring with 4-14-18.

PENS, LIGHTNING AND KINGS MOUNT LEADS, CONTINUE STREAKS

The Pittsburgh Penguins, Tampa Bay Lightning and Los Angeles Kings all opened early multi-goal leads to continue their respective streaks:

* Kris Letang (2-2-4) and Patric Hornqvist (2-1-3) each matched career highs for points, and Sidney Crosby equaled a personal best with five assists as the Penguins opened a 5-0 lead en route to their seventh consecutive victory (6-1 at BUF). The Penguins have won seven straight games for the first time since Dec. 9 to 21, 2013 (7-0-0) and have matched the St. Louis Blues (7-0-0; Oct. 25 to Nov. 6) and Anaheim Ducks (7-0-0; Oct. 11 to 24) for the longest winning streak this season. They remain the only team without a regulation road loss in 2014-15.

* Tampa Bay jumped to a 4-0 lead in the first period and Ryan Callahan's goal at 5:38 of the middle frame stood as the game-winner, and the Lightning pushed their winning streak to five games. Callahan (1-2-3) had his first three-point game since Feb. 4 against the Colorado Avalanche while with the Rangers (2-1-3) and Tyler Johnson found the back of the net twice to stretch his point streak to three games (3-2-5). Johnson had his first multi-goal game since scoring a hat trick on Jan. 25 against Colorado; he leads the team with 4-13-17.

* Jason Garrison (2-3-5, four games), Nikita Kucherov (1-3-4, three games) and Brian Boyle (2-1-3, three games) extended their point streaks. Jonathan Drouin (0-2-2) and J.T. Brown (1-1-2) matched career-highs for points.

* Tyler Toffoli (1-2-3) and Alec Martinez (0-3-3) each tallied three points to help the Kings build a 5-0 lead early in the third period en route to a 5-1 win against the Vancouver Canucks. The victory extended Los Angeles' home point streak to eight games (7-0-1). Toffoli matched a career-high with three points and picked up his fifth multi-point game; he leads the Kings and ranks eighth (tie) in the League with 17 points (7-10-17). Martinez established a new personal best for assists and points in a game. Jake Muzzin scored his first goal of the season and second career game-winner (also Mar. 18, 2013 against the Phoenix Coyotes).

* "That '70s Line," the trio of Toffoli (1-2-3, +3), Jeff Carter (1-1-2, +3) and Tanner Pearson (0-1-1, +3), combined for 2-4-6 and a plus-nine rating. They have 20 goals, 41 points and a plus-40 rating through 15 games this season.

GIORDANO, GAUDREAU HELP FLAMES STAY HOT

Mark Giordano (1-2-3) and Johnny Gaudreau (1-2-3) each contributed three points and the Flames overcame two multi-goal deficits in the second period (2-0 and 3-1) before rallying from 4-3 down in the third period to earn their fourth victory in their past five games.

* The Flames have earned at least a point in 11 of 14 all-time games in Florida (8-3-3), including a 4-0-1 mark in their past five visits to the BB&T Center.

* According to the Elias Sports Bureau, Giordano is one of only five defensemen with at least 18 points in his team's first 16 games since the 2005-06 season:

* Gaudreau set a career high with three points and is 2-7-9 in his past six games, including three multi-point efforts. He ranks second in rookie scoring with 3-9-12 (15 GP).

* Sean Monahan scored the tying goal in the third period and added an assist to push his point streak to five games (4-3-7), matching the longest stretch of his career (4-2-6; Oct. 3 to 11, 2013).

* Lance Bouma (1-1-2) scored his first career game-winning goal and matched a career-high with two points (also 0-2-2, Mar. 12 against the Ducks). He has found the back of the net four times in his past eight games after scoring six goals in his first 128 games played.

FLYERS, CAPS HOLD ON FOR WINS

The Flyers and Washington Capitals each surrendered multi-goal leads in the third period before earning victories:

* Claude Giroux (2-1-3) and Jakub Voracek (0-3-3) powered the Flyers to a 4-0 lead after 40 minutes and Philadelphia emerged with a 4-3 win against the Avalanche after surrendering three goals in the third period. The Flyers have won each of their past five games at Wells Fargo Center (5-1-2 this season); they also improved to 26-9-4 all-time at home against the Avalanche/Nordiques franchise. Steve Mason turned aside 36 shots – including 18 in the third period – to pick up his third straight victory, all at home (1.67 GAA, .955 SV%).

* The Capitals led 2-0 in the first period and 3-1 after 40 minutes but goals by Carolina Hurricanes forwards Eric Staal and Elias Lindholm forced extra time, where Nicklas Backstrom scored his fourth career overtime winner to lift Washington over Carolina. Alex Ovechkin assisted on the game-winner for his 400th NHL assist; he is 19 helpers from passing Michal Pivonka (418) for the all-time franchise lead. Backstrom (46 points, 38 GP) and Ovechkin (44 assists, 38 GP) have more points and assists, respectively, against Carolina than against any other opponent. Justin Peters stopped 24 shots to earn a victory against his former team.

SHARKS, MAPLE LEAFS RALLY FROM THIRD PERIOD DEFICITS

* After surrendering a Tyler Seguin hat trick to fall behind 3-1, the Sharks scored four unanswered goals in the third period – including the tying and winning goals by Brent Burns – to win 5-3. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, the Sharks overcame a multi-goal deficit in the third period to win in regulation for the first time since Oct. 8, 2005 (7-6 win at STL). Burns scored his first game-winning goal of the season (19th of his career); he leads all defensemen with six goals and ranks second among defensemen in points (15).

* Four other Sharks, Logan Couture (0-3-3), James Sheppard (1-1-2), Tomas Hertl (0-2-2) and Patrick Marleau (1-1-2), also had multi-point games. Couture (2-3-5, three games), Sheppard (3-2-5, four games) and Hertl (1-3-4, three games) all extended point streaks.

* The Toronto Maple Leafs trailed twice, including 4-3 in the third period, but Roman Polak tied the game at 7:27 of the final frame and Leo Komarov scored the game-winner with 5:34 left in regulation to lift the Maple Leafs to a 4-3 win against the New York Rangers. Komarov scored two points to match his career high – established Oct. 12 at the Rangers (0-2-2) – and is 1-8-9 this season (14 GP) to equal his career output in his previous 42 GP (4-5-9). Of his five career goals, four have been decisive tallies.

* Nazem Kadri (0-2-2) also had multiple points while Peter Holland scored his first career shorthanded goal.

* DID YOU KNOW: According to the Elias Sports Bureau, the Rangers scored at least four goals and lost in regulation for the first time in 85 such games (83-1-1) dating to Nov. 14, 2010.

PREDATORS HALT BLUES' STREAK

Filip Forsberg scored the tying goal and assisted on James Neal's game-winner at 13:32 of the third period as the Nashville Predators earned a 2-1 victory in St. Louis, halting the Blues winning streak at seven games (last loss: Oct. 23). Forsberg leads the Predators and ranks first among all rookies with 15 points (6-9-15). Neal leads Nashville and is tied for sixth in the League with eight goals.

* The Predators and Blues faced off on the 80th anniversary of the first NHL game contested in St. Louis – by the St. Louis Eagles.

CANADIENS DEFEAT WILD ON GUY LAPOINTE NIGHT

On a night when they raised Guy Lapointe's No. 5 to the rafters of Bell Centre, Lars Eller (1-1-2) scored the game-winning goal to lift the Montreal Canadiens to a 4-1 win against the Minnesota Wild. Jiri Sekac (1-1-2) notched his first career multi-point game while Brandon Prust (0-2-2) posted his first multi-point game since Mar. 18 of last season (1-1-2 against Colorado). Carey Price stopped 30 shots to improve to 8-3-1 this season.

* Lapointe, now the Chief of Amateur Scouting for the Wild, played 16 NHL seasons (1968-84) and was a member of six Stanley Cup Championship teams with the Canadiens during the 1970s. He is the 18th player to have his jersey retired by the Canadiens.

GOALTENDERS BACK JETS AND ISLANDERS TO ROAD WINS

The Winnipeg Jets and New York Islanders received solid goaltending en route to one-goal wins on the road:

* Ondrej Pavelec stopped 37 shots in regulation and overtime and all six shootout attempts, and Mathieu Perreault buried the game-deciding goal on his first-ever shootout attempt, to lift the Jets to their sixth win in their past eight outings (6-0-2). The Jets are one game shy of matching the longest point streak in franchise history set from Dec. 9 to 28, 2005 (6-0-3). Pavelec has earned the decision in seven of those games (5-0-2). Tobias Enstrom scored the Jets' lone goal in regulation – his first of the season; he leads the Jets with eight assists this season.

* Frans Nielsen scored the game-winning goal at 17:29 of the third period and Jaroslav Halak made 19 saves for his first shutout of season (31st of his career) to extend the Islanders' winning streak to three games; the victory also halted Arizona's winning streak at three. Nielsen scored his second game-winning goal of the season to match his career-high first set in 2008-09.

LOOSE PUCKS

Flames forward Jiri Hudler (1-1-2) had his fourth multi-point game of the season ... Jonas Hiller stopped all nine shots he faced in relief to improve to 5-0-0 in his career against the Panthers. The Flames goalie is 7-1-1 with a 1.67 goals-against average and a .939 save percentage in his past nine decisions ... Wild forward Thomas Vanek had an assist in his first game against the Canadiens since scoring 11-14-25 (regular season and playoffs) in 32 games with Montreal last season ... Hurricanes forward Elias Lindholm scored to extend his point streak to five games (5-2-7) ... Penguins goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury stopped 20 shots to move to 6-0-0 in his past six games ... Maple Leafs forward David Clarkson played in his 500th NHL game ... Rangers forward Carl Hagelin scored his 100th NHL point. Teammate Derek Stepan had an assist in his season debut ... According to the Elias Sports Bureau, Jason Spezza (0-1-1) became just the second player in NHL history to record his 700th career point in his 700th NHL game (also Ilya Kovalchuk on Apr. 6, 2011) ... Blues forward Jori Lehtera scored to stretch his point streak to four games (1-3-4); linemates Vladimir Tarasenko (5-3-8, five games) and Jaden Schwartz (1-3-4, three games) also extended their streaks ... Despite their loss, the Senators remain undefeated in regulation at the Canadian Tire Centre this season (4-0-3). Craig Anderson stopped 36 shots and five of six shootout attempts in defeat ... Dave Tippett (199-133-58) coached his 390th game behind the Coyotes bench to match Bob Francis (165-144-81) as the longest tenured coach in franchise history (390 games) ... The Sabres, Maple Leafs, Blue Jackets and Senators hosted Military Appreciation Nights. In addition, some teams wore special decals on their helmets to commemorate Remembrance Day (Canadian based Clubs) and Veterans Day (U.S. based Clubs).
