DUCKS RECLAIM TOP SPOT

Corey Perry scored his League-leading 10th goal of the season and assisted on Nate Thompson’s overtime winner to lift the Anaheim Ducks to a 2-1 win against the Dallas Stars. Dallas forward Antoine Roussel forced the extra period with his tying goal at 14:33 of the third period. It was the first game between the clubs since Game 6 in their Western Conference First Round in the 2014 Stanley Cup Playoffs, when the Ducks overcame a two-goal deficit in the final minutes of regulation before winning in overtime to eliminate the Stars.

* Perry (10-4--14) had his fourth multiple-point game of the season to move within one point of the League points lead, behind Dallas’ Tyler Seguin (7-8—15), Pittsburgh’s Sidney Crosby (7-8—15) and Philadelphia’s Jakub Voracek (3-12—15).

* Thompson’s goal was the fifth game-winner of his career and third in overtime (also Jan. 1, 2010, vs. the New York Rangers and Feb. 1, 2014, vs. the Montreal Canadiens, both while he played for the Tampa Bay Lightning. It also was his first goal in a Ducks uniform.

* With the win the Ducks reclaimed the top spot in the NHL with 18 points. At 9-3-0, the Ducks have matched their best 12-game start by wins in franchise history, set most recently in 2013-14 when Anaheim also began 9-3-0 (via Elias Sports Bureau).

* The Ducks won for the third time in their past four visits to American Airlines Center (3-1-0) to boost their all-time record in Dallas to 15-34-7.

* Coach Bruce Boudreau guided the Ducks to victory in his 200th game behind the Anaheim bench, improving to 120-58-22 with the club (321-146-62 in his NHL career).

NYQUIST, DATSYUK EACH GET THREE POINTS TO POWER WINGS . . .

Pavel Datsyuk and Gustav Nyquist each scored twice and had an assist to help the Detroit Red Wings skate past the Los Angeles Kings 5-2. Detroit opened a 4-0 lead in the opening 15:28, marking the first time since Feb. 27 at the Ottawa Senators that the Red Wings scored as many goals in the first period (via Elias).

* Nyquist had the third three-point game of his NHL career; he notched a career-high four points twice last season, on Feb. 2 (3-1—4 at the Washington Capitals) and March 7 (1-3—4 vs. the New Jersey Devils).

* Pavel Datsyuk had three points for the first time since Dec. 19, 2013 (0-3—3 vs. the Calgary Flames) to extend his point streak to five games (4-4—8).

* Niklas Kronwall tallied two assists to tie Gary Bergman (60-243—303 in 706 GP) for fourth on the franchise’s all-time points list among defensemen. Kronwall has 64-239—303 in 604 career games.

Phil Kessel and Daniel Winnik each had a goal and two assists to power the Toronto Maple Leafs past the Columbus Blue Jackets for their second straight win.

* Jonathan Bernier stopped 28 of 29 shots and had his shutout streak snapped at 110:05, just shy of his career-best stretch of 111:14 (March 10 to April 1, 2010, while with the Kings).

* Kessel (1-2—3) registered his fifth multiple-point game of the season. He has multiple points each time he has found the scoresheet this season; the Maple Leafs are 5-0-0 in those games.

* Playing in his 500th NHL game, Daniel Winnik scored his first goal in a Maple Leafs uniform and matched a career-high with three points (3x, last: Dec. 9, 2013, vs. the New York Islanders while with Anaheim). According to the Elias Sports Bureau, Winnik (No. 265) is the 13th player from the 2004 NHL Draft to play at least 500 career games.

* Nazem Kadri (1-1—2) notched his first multiple-point game of the season, and David Clarkson scored his third goal of the season and first game-winner.

JOHNNY HOCKEY IGNITES FLAMES

Facing a 2-1 deficit after 40 minutes, the Calgary Flames scored three goals in the opening 6:37 of the final period, including Johnny Gaudreau’s game-winning goal, for a 4-3 win against the Nashville Predators.

* Gaudreau (1-1—2) scored his second game-winning goal of the season to move into a share of the League lead in that category. He ranks fifth in rookie scoring with 2-4—6.

* TJ Brodie netted his fourth goal of the season (12 GP) to match his 81-game total from 2013-14. Brodie and fellow defenseman Mark Giordano (2-7—9) share the overall team lead and rank second among all NHL defensemen with nine points.

* Making consecutive starts for the first time this season, Jonas Hiller stopped 28 of 31 shots to improve to 4-0-1 with a 1.20 goals-against average and a .960 save percentage in his past five games.

LOOSE PUCKS

Ryan Johansen (0-1—1) extended his point streak to 10 games (5-8—13) to match Columbus’ franchise record set by R.J. Umberger from Nov. 10 to Dec. 1, 2010 (3-10—13). … Blue Jackets defenseman Jack Johnson had an assist in his 500th NHL game, and teammate Curtis McElhinney stopped 23 shots in his 100th career game. … Michael Ferland made his NHL debut with the Flames . . . Nashville’s James Neal (2-0—2) scored his team-leading seventh goal of the season and Mike Ribeiro (0-1—1) has points in seven of his past eight games (3-5—8). … Dallas defenseman Trevor Daley had his ninth point of the season (4-5—9) to move into a share of second place in scoring among all defensemen. …The Department of Player Safety suspended Canucks forward Alexandre Burrows for three games for a late, illegal check to the head of Canadiens defenseman Alexei Emelin on Thursday. … The Red Wings and Joe Louis Arena faithful raised for a standing ovation to celebrate and support Gordie Howe, who recently suffered a stroke.
