QMJHL Roundup: Barbashev scores three times as the Wildcats beat the Islanders

CHARLOTTETOWN - Ivan Barbashev scored three times and Christophe Lalonde had a four-point outing as the Moncton Wildcats downed the host Charlottetown Islanders 5-3 on Sunday in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action.

Lalonde scored once and set up three more for the Wildcats (4-2-0), while Mathieu Olivier added the other Moncton goal.

Julien Avon, Mitchell Balmas and Bradley Kennedy supplied the offence for the Islanders (4-2-1).

Alex Dubeau made 29 saves for the Wildcats as Charlottetown's Mason McDonald stopped 31-of-36 shots in a losing cause.

Moncton went 1 for 6 on the power play while the Islanders scored once on two chances with the man advantage.

SAGUENEENS 5 SEA DOGS 4 (SO)

SAINT JOHN, N.B. — Gabryel Paquin-Boudreau scored the shootout winner while adding three assists in regulation and Julio Bilia made 33 saves as Chicoutimi slipped past the Sea Dogs.

Samuel Roussy, Alexandre Ranger, Nicolas Roy and Reid Halabi scored in regulation for the Sagueneens (3-4-0).

Mark Tremaine, Samuel Dove-McFalls, Nathan Noel and Daniel Dal Paggio scored for Saint John (3-1-2), while Sebastien Auger kicked out 50-of-54 shots.

QUEBEC CITY — Marc-Olivier Roy had a hat trick and Eric Brassard stopped 28 shots as the Remparts doubled up Shawinigan.

Guillaume Gauthier and Adam Erne each had a goal and two assists for Quebc (3-3-0) and Dmytro Timashov added a single goal.

Dylan Labbe had a pair of goals for the Cataractes (4-1-2) while Alex Pawelczyk scored once. Marvin Cupper made 18 saves in a losing cause.

PHOENIX 6 VOLTIGEURS 3

DRUMMONDVILLE, Que. — Time Wieser and Lucas Thierus each scored twice as Sherbrooke toppled the Voltigeurs.

Raphael Lafontaine and Daniel Audette also scored for the Phoenix (5-1-0) and Kay Schweri tacked on three assists. Alex Bureau made 36 saves for the victory.

Joey Ratelle scored twice for Drummondville (3-3-0) and Marc-Antoine Bouillon had the other. Louis-Phillip Guindon allowed five goals on 22 shots in 50:44 of action before giving way to Joe Fleschler, who stopped 1-of-2 shots in relief.

VAL-D'OR, Que. — Jonathan Bourcier scored twice and Yakov Trenin had a goal and three assists as Gatineau crushed the Foreurs.

Alexandre Alain, Alexandre Landreville, Joey Richard and Louick Marcotte also scored for the Olympiques (4-1-2) while Nicolas Lachance made 26 saves for the win.

Julien Gautheir and Stephen Anderson supplied the goals for Val-d'Or (2-5-0). Keven Bouchard gave up four goals on 16 shots before being replaced by Etienne Monpetit, who turned away 8-of-11 shots in 25:58 of relief.

OCEANIC 3 TIGRES 1

VICTORIAVILLE, Que. — Christopher Clapperton scored twice and set up Simon Bourque for another as Rimouski defeated the Tigres.

Alexis Loiseau had two assists for the Oceanic (5-1-0) and Philippe Desrosiers made 26 saves for the victory.

Angelo Miceli scored the lone goal for Victoriaville (4-2-1) as Chase Marchand kicked out 28-of-30 shots in defeat.
