ORDER TEAM PLAYER SKINNY
1 BUF Sam Reinhart, C,
Kootenay (WHL)
Won't do anything to wow you, but combines off-the-charts hockey sense with outstanding offensive skill and strong defensive awareness.
2 EDM Aaron Ekblad, D,
Barrie (OHL)
At 6-foot-3 and 213 pounds, he already has NHL size, as well as a rocket shot from the point.
3 FLA Samuel Bennett, C, Kingston (OHL) Strong playmaker also can put the puck in the net with one of the best shots in this year's draft class.
4 CGY Michael Dal Colle, LW, Oshawa (OHL) Blossoming power forward has been compared to Anaheim Ducks center Ryan Getzlaf.
5 NYI Kasperi Kapanen, RW, KalPa (FIN) Already playing in top men's league. Strong skater, fearless on forecheck; would have played on Finland's top line at World Juniors if not for shoulder injury.
6 NSH Leon Draisaitl, LW,
Prince Albert (WHL)
Showcased his nasty side during World Juniors, but it's his high-end offensive game that will get him to the next level.
7 CAR Brenden Perlini, LW, Niagara (OHL) Power forward with speed and hockey sense emerging as a star in his third OHL season.
8 WPG Nicholas Ritchie, LW, Peterborough (OHL) Skates well for a 6-2, 230-pound bull of a power forward. High-end offensive skills could earn him quick trip to NHL.
9 VAN Anthony DeAngelo, D, Sarnia (OHL) Dynamic offensive-minded defenseman needs to improve defensively, but has mindset and focus to get better.
10 WSH Haydn Fleury, D,
Red Deer (WHL)
Big defenseman knows how to use his 6-foot-2, 202-pound frame to his advantage; offensive game developing.
11 ANA
(From Ottawa)
Ivan Barbashev, LW, Moncton (QMJHL) Russian forward continues to shine in second QMJHL season. Big, skilled playmaker also has finishing ability.
12 CBJ Julius Honka, D,
Swift Current (WHL)
High-end offensive talent came to North America to get stronger and more physical, and has adapted very well at both ends of the ice.
13 DET William Nylander, RW, Sodertalje (SWE-2) Small but highly skilled playmaker; offense is in his genes thanks to his father, Michael Nylander.
14 PHX Jake Virtanen, LW,
Calgary (WHL)
Wowed scouts with his skating performance at Top Prospects Game testing; add in his near-ready NHL size and the Coyotes likely won't let him get past them.
15 DAL Jared McCann, C,
Sault Ste. Marie (OHL)
Left-shot center is well-regarded for his smarts and top-end two-way skill.
16 PHI Adrian Kempe, RW,
Modo Jr. (SWE-JR)
Big Swedish forward doesn't mind throwing his body around on the forecheck; Flyers know family from drafting older brother Mario in the fifth round in 2007.
17 NYR Roland McKeown, D, Kingston (OHL) Smart, skilled two-way defenseman already has good size and strength.
18 LAK Dylan Larkin, C,
USA U-18 (USHL)
Kings' well-established pipeline of talent means team has luxury of allowing Larkin to continue his development at the University of Michigan next season.
19 MIN Thatcher Demko, G,
Boston College (H-EAST)
Best goaltender available in draft; fills position of weakness in organization's prospect group.
20 TOR Joshua Ho-Sang, RW/C, Windsor (OHL) Versatile Toronto native has dynamic offensive game; able to use great speed to create Grade-A scoring chances.
21 MTL David Pastrnak, LW, Sodertalje (SWE-2) Offensively gifted with quick feet and great hands; has excelled playing against men in Sweden.
22 TBL Jack Glover, D,
USA U-18 (USHL)
Will need time to round out his game, but at 6-3 and 190 pounds he already brings size and strength Lightning lack on back end.
23 BOS Jakub Vrana, C,
Linkoping (SWE-2)
Strong skater is offensively gifted; needs to get bigger and stronger, but developing at good pace playing against men in Sweden.
24 COL Nikolay Goldobin, RW, Sarnia (OHL) Latest Russian forward to develop into dynamic offensive machine with Sarnia; joy for scoring similar to Sarnia alum Nail Yakupov.
25 SJS Sonny Milano, LW,
USA U-18 (USHL)
Strong skater can be eased into lineup after development time at Boston College.
26 PIT Aaron Haydon, D,
Niagara (OHL)
Big banger can skate well and has developing offensive game; set record in reaction drill test at Top Prospects Game.
27 CHI Nikolaj Ehlers, LW,
Halifax (QMJHL)
Has showcased great speed and skill playing on a line with Tampa Bay Lightning top prospect Jonathan Drouin.
28 STL Alex Tuch, RW/C,
USA U-18 (USHL)
High-skill power forward already knows how to use his 6-4, 213-pound frame in the offensive zone.
29 ANA Nick Schmaltz, C,
Green Bay (USHL)
Highly talented forward eventually could be answer to Ducks' quest for second-line center.
