Prospect Grigorenko diagnosed with mononucleosis
Quebec Remparts center Mikhail Grigorenko, NHL Central Scouting's third-ranked North American skater, has contracted mononucleosis.

The Quebec Remparts announced center Mikhail Grigorenko, NHL Central Scouting's third-ranked North American skater for the 2012 NHL Draft, has contracted mononucleosis.

"As of the end of the season, Grigorenko informed our medical team that he felt tired," the team said in a statement. "He was immediately given several medical tests which concluded with this result."

It's expected Grigorenko will need 4-6 weeks of recovery time.

The 6-foot-3, 200-pound center was eighth in the QMJHL in scoring with 85 points in 59 games. He led all first-year players in the league in points and goals (40), and was second in assists (45).

He had just three goals and seven assists in 11 games, part of which could be blamed on his illness.
