Jarome Iginla and the Calgary Flames are in Detroit (7:30 p.m. ET, NHLN-U.S., TSN) to face the defending Stanley Cup champions in one of eight games Wednesday night.

Also tonight, the Buffalo Sabres host the Tampa Bay Lightning; the Pittsburgh Penguins look to avoid their fourth loss in five games when they play the New Jersey Devils (7 p.m. ET, RIS); the Boston Bruins go for their sixth straight win when they face the Washington Capitals; and the Atlanta Thrashers host the New York Rangers.

Later, the Ottawa Senators are in Chicago (8:30 p.m. ET, TSN2); the Phoenix Coyotes try to break a two-game losing streak when they skate into Dallas; and the St. Louis Blues begin a three-game California trip in Anaheim.

Here's what to watch:

* Lightning left wing Ryan Malone, who averaged 19:04 of ice time last season, is averaging just 15:56 this season. Malone, who is fifth on the team with 12 points, has 9 points in his last seven games.

* Buffalo center Derek Roy has at least a point in 10 of his last 12 games. With 21 points in 27 games, he's on pace for 63 points this season, which would be the second-most in his career, following the 81 he scored last season. He leads Northeast Division forwards with an average ice time of 21:34 per game.

* The Devils have won seven of their last nine games since defenseman Paul Martin returned from an upper-body injury. Martin leads the team with an average ice time of 25:12 per game. He plays the point on New Jersey's second power-play unit, but has just 4 power-play points this season.

* Pittsburgh, which has the top two scorers in the League in Evgeni Malkin (45 points) and Sidney Crosby (41), has no other player with 20 points. The Penguins are tied with the Flyers for second in the Atlantic Division, four points behind the first-place Rangers.

* Blues right wing Brad Boyes, who leads the team with 27 points, has 17 points at home. Boyes, who has 14 power-play points, is tied with teammate Eric Brewer for the worst plus-minus rating in the Central Division -- minus-13. 

* Dallas goalie Marty Turco has won four of his last six decisions and has faced more than 30 shots just once during that span. Turco, who only has nine wins this season, entered 2008-09 with five straight 30-win seasons.

* Boston center David Krejci, who had 27 points in 56 games last season, has 24 points in 27 games this season. Krejci, who was averaging 14:55 of ice time last season, now is playing an average of 16:48.

* Rangers right wing Nikolai Zherdev is tied for the League lead with 5 shootout goals, and his eight shootout attempts are the most in the League.

* Detroit doesn't have a player in the top 10 in League scoring, but does have five players with at least 20 points. The Red Wings, who lead the Central Division by nine points, have the best power play in the League at 30.3 percent.

* Senators captain Daniel Alfredsson, who has scored 25 goals seven times in his career, has 4 goals in his last eight games. He played more than 24 minutes Monday for the second time this season.

* Washington center Nicklas Backstrom, who was a finalist for the 2008 Calder Trophy, had 4 assists and 5 points in four games against the Bruins last season. Backstrom has 17 assists this season, but just 2 assists in his last eight games.

* Thrashers center Bryan Little, who has 2 goals in three career games against the Rangers, leads the team with a plus-6 rating.

* Anaheim right wing Teemu Selanne leads the League with 13 power-play goals. Selanne, in his 10th season as a Duck, leads the team with a 15.2 shooting percentage while taking the second-most shots, with 92.
