NHL Television Broadcasting

Each NHL team has a local television territory where it may show telecasts of its games. A team will partner with a local television network, usually a regional sports network, to televise its games in its territory (e.g., the Chicago Blackhawks and Comcast Sportsnet Chicago). Generally, each club and its local telecasters will decide together which games will be televised locally.

The NHL also televises many games nationally, mostly on an exclusive basis, meaning no other telecaster can televise the same games. Fans can watch these games on the national network. In the United States, the NHL televises games nationally on NBC and Versus (formerly OLN). In Canada, the NHL televises games nationally on CBC and TSN in the English language and on RDS in the French language.

If you are a fan of a club outside of the local territory where you live, or you just want to watch as much hockey as you can, the NHL Center Ice package is offered in both the United States and Canada on either satellite or digital cable. NHL Center Ice provides up to 40 games per week involving team from outside your local area.
