Lake Erie Monsters left-winger Brett Gallant collapses on bench during game

TORONTO - Left-winger Brett Gallant collapsed on the Monsters' bench as Lake Erie played the Toronto Marlies on Friday in American Hockey League action.

The Summerside, P.E.I., native was attended to by medical staff.

He was alert and talking after being stretchered off from the bench. An ambulance took him to a local hospital.

Gallant has an assist and 149 penalty minutes with a minus-9 rating in 47 games with Lake Erie this season.
