OHL Roundup: Jack Flinn records shutout as Steelheads beat Colts to force Game 7

MISSISSAUGA, Ont. - Jack Flinn stopped all 24 shots he faced as the Mississauga Steelheads forced a Game 7 with a 7-0 rout of the Barrie Colts on Sunday in their Ontario Hockey League first-round playoff series.

Michael McLeod paced the Steelheads offence with a goal and two assists. McLeod, Sean Day and Brendan Harrogate gave Mississauga a 3-0 in the first 10 minutes of the opening period.

Jared Walsh, Mason Marchment, Owen Tippett and Daniel Muzito-Bagenda rounded out the attack.

David Ovsjannikov failed to record a save on three shots in 6:11 to suffer the loss. Mackenzie Blackwood turned aside 28-of-32 shots in relief.

The Steelheads scored twice on 10 power plays, with Barrie going scoreless on three chances with the man advantage.

KNIGHTS 5 ATTACK 2

OWEN SOUND, Ont. — Matthew Tkachuk scored twice and added two assists as London toppled the Attack in Game 6 to advance into the second round of the post-season.

Christian Dvorak, on the power play, Cliff Pu and Victor Mete also had goals for the Knights, who took the series 4-2.

Nick Suzuki and Josh Sterk found the back of the net for Owen Sound.

PETES 7 BATTALION 5

PETERBOROUGH, Ont. — Greg Betzold and Brandon Prophet both struck twice as the Petes overcame a 3-0 deficit to topple North Bay and force a Game 7 in their first-round playoff matchup.

Jonathan Ang had a goal and three assists for Peterborough, which scored five times in the third period. Eric Cornel and Hunter Garlent also chipped in.

Mike Amadio led the Battalion with three goals and an assist. Maurizio Colella added two goals and an assist.

STING 5 GREYHOUNDS 1

SAULT STE. MARIE, Ont. — Pavel Zacha scored twice in the third period, including once on the power play, and added an assist as Sarnia powered past the Greyhounds to force a Game 7 in its first-round series.

Jakob Chychrun struck twice, including once on the man advantage, with Jordan Kyrou rounding out the attack for the Sting, who scored three times in the third.

Boris Katchouk opened the scoring in the first for Sault Ste. Marie, which travel to Sarnia on Tuesday for the deciding game.
