NHL: Canadiens didn't act inappropriately by trading Tinordi

NEW YORK, N.Y. - NHL deputy commissioner Bill Daly says the league has no reason to believe the Montreal Canadiens acted inappropriately by trading Jarred Tinordi to the Arizona Coyotes after the defenceman was suspended 20 games for performance-enhancing drugs.

Montreal traded Tinordi to Arizona on Jan. 15 in a controversial deal that sent fan-voted All-Star John Scott to the Canadiens, who demoted him to the minors. At the time, Canadiens general manager Marc Bergevin said there were other factors that went into the trade but did not elaborate.

After receiving several media inquiries, Daly said in the statement Thursday that NHL teams are not privy to drug-testing results or the process until a final determination has been made.
