Devils' Zajac has four points in 1st period vs. Senators

New Jersey Devils center Travis Zajac had four points in the first period of a 6-3 win against the Ottawa Senators at Prudential Center on Thursday.

Zajac assisted on a goal by Joseph Blandisi (his first in the NHL), and on two by Kyle Palmieri before scoring with 6:04 remaining to give New Jersey a 4-0 lead. It was Zajac's first goal since Nov. 6, when he scored in a 3-2 victory against the Chicago Blackhawks.

Blandisi had two assists and Palmieri had one; the line combined for 10 points in the period.

Lee Stempniak scored with 2:36 to go to make it 5-0. It was the first five-goal period for the Devils since Jan. 9, 2011, the third period against the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Zajac had one point (an assist) in the nine games prior to Thursday. He has seven goals and 16 assists in 40 games this season.
