Edmonton Oilers center Connor McDavid said Tuesday his recovery from surgery to repair a fractured clavicle has been positive.

"I feel very good; obviously that's a question I get a lot these days," McDavid told TSN Radio 1050 in Toronto. "I feel pretty good on the ice, so there's lot of good stuff going on."

McDavid, chosen No. 1 in the 2015 NHL Draft, has missed 22 games since he was injured in a 4-2 win against the Philadelphia Flyers on Nov. 3. The Oilers are 10-11-1 without him.

McDavid, who is skating on his own, was expected to miss four months but is ahead of schedule. He had five goals and 12 points in 13 games prior to the injury.

McDavid said he is excited to see the Oilers doing well in December (7-3-0).

"It's always difficult, you never want to sit out," McDavid said. "I'm a competitive guy and hockey has been my life forever, really, so you never want to sit out, but at the end of the day you just have to be patient with it. It's just a bone, it heals, and I'll be back stronger than ever."
