OHL Roundup: Alex DeBrincat leads Otters in 3-2 victory over Rangers

ERIE, Pa. - Alex DeBrincat's empty-net goal 17:54 into the third period stood as the winner as the Erie Otters edged the Kitchener Rangers 3-2 on Thursday in Ontario Hockey League action.

DeBrincat added an assist to finish with two points on the night, and Jakob Mayenschein and Kyle Maksimovich rounded out the Otters' (20-3-1) attack.

Adam Mascherin had a goal and an assist for Kitchener (18-3-3). Ryan MacInnis had the other goal.

Devin Williams stopped 20 shots for the victory. Luke Opilka made 36 saves in defeat.

Erie was 0 for 1 on the power play. Kitchener did not have a power-play opportunity throughout the game.

ICEDOGS 4 GREYHOUNDS 1

ST. CATHARINES, Ont. — Brent Moran stopped 32 shots and four different IceDogs' skaters scored en route to victory over Sault Ste. Marie.

Blake Siebenaler, Anthony DiFruscia, Brendan Perlini and Josh Ho-Sang, into an empty net 18:52 into the third period, scored for Niagara (12-9-2).

Keigan Goetz had the lone goal for the Greyhounds (9-11-3) while Brandon Halverson stopped 22-of-25 shots.

BATTALION 7 BULLDOGS 1

NORTH BAY, Ont. — Max Kislinger scored twice and Mike Amadio had a goal and two assists to power the Battalion over Hamilton.

Kyle Wood, Brett Hargave, Brett McKenzie and Daniil Vertiy had the other goals for North Bay (10-10-2) while Cam Dineen chipped in with three assists.

Michael Cramarossa had the lone goal for the Bulldogs (8-15-1).

PETES 3 STING 1

PETERBOROUGH, Ont. — Adam Timleck scored a tie-breaking power-play goal 17:54 into the second period and the Petes held on to beat Sarnia.

Steven Lorentz had a goal and an assist for Peterborough (12-9-4) while Hunter Garlent rounded out the attack. Logan DeNoble received a game misconduct for instigating a fight within the final five minutes of the third period.

Anthony Salinitri scored for the Sting (13-8-2).

BARRIE, Ont. — Justin Scott's short-handed goal in the second period proved to be the winner as the Colts downed Owen Sound.

Kevin Labanc scored one goal and set up two more to lead Barrie (16-7-0), and Brendan Lemieux and Julius Nattinen each had a goal and an assist.

Keenan Reynolds found the back of the net for the Attack (11-8-4).
