Pittsburgh Penguins forward Pascal Dupuis was taken to the hospital as a precaution Friday prior to the game against the Edmonton Oilers at Rexall Place.

The Penguins said he experienced symptoms that may or may not be related to his blood clot history.

"We've said all along that Pascal's health is the highest priority," general manager Jim Rutherford told the Penguins website. "We will take every precaution necessary to ensure he is in good health."

Rutherford told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review that tests on Dupuis were negative but he will not play Saturday at the Calgary Flames.

Dupuis made his season debut Oct. 22, his first NHL game since Nov. 15, 2014, when he was sidelined because of a blood clot in his lung.

He has one goal in six games this season.
