Zachary Fucale turns away 40 shots in IceCaps victory over Senators

ST. JOHN'S, N.L. - Mac Bennett scored the eventual winner in the first period and Zachary Fucale was solid in net as the St. John's IceCaps edged the Binghamton Senators 3-2 on Wednesday night in American Hockey League action.

Darren Dietz and Daniel Carr also had first-period goals to give the IceCaps (4-1-1) a three-goal lead after 20 minutes.

Eric O'Dell and Max McCormick replied for Binghamton (2-2-0) in the second but couldn't find the equalizer.

Fucale finished the game by turning aside 40 shots for the Montreal Canadiens' affiliate. Matt O'Connor made 18 saves for the Ottawa Senators farm club.

St. John's failed to convert on one power-play opportunity while Binghamton was 0 for 4 with the man advantage.
