QMJHL Roundup: Beauvillier, Cataractes down Huskies 8-7 in overtime

SHAWINIGAN, Que. - Anthony Beauvillier had three goals — including the winner 14 seconds into overtime — and added two assists and Dennis Yan had three goals and two helpers of his own as the Shawinigan Cataractes edged the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies 8-7 on Friday in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action.

Alexis D'Aoust scored once and set up four more for the Cataractes (8-2-0). Brandon Gignac added a goal and Samuel Girard had four assists.

Martins Dzierkals had a pair of goals for the Huskies (8-1-2). Antoine Waked and Francis Parron had a goal and three assists each and Alexandre Sills, Julien Nantel and Bruno-Carl Denis added the others.

Mikhail Denisov only had to make four saves in relief to earn the win. Shawinigan's Antoine Samuel allowed six goals on 23 shots in 50:52 of action before getting pulled. Rouyn-Noranda's Chase Marchand started in goal and stopped 12-of-15 shots before giving way to Samuel Harvery, who gave up five goals on 15 shots in 39:33 of play to take the loss.

The Cataractes went 3 for 5 on the power play while the Huskies scored three times on seven chances with the man advantage.

SEA DOGS 3 ISLANDERS 1

CHARLOTTETOWN — Spencer Smallman's second-period goal stood as the winner and Marc-Antoine Turcotte made 28 saves as Saint John downed the Islanders for its third straight win.

Mathieu Joseph and Adam Marsh also scored for the Sea Dogs (6-3-0).

Filip Chlapik found the back of the net for Charlottetown (5-4-1), which dropped its third game in a row. Mason McDonald stopped 31-of-34 shots in defeat.

TIGRES 6 MOOSEHEADS 1

HALIFAX — Carl Marois had a hat trick and Olivier Tremblay stopped 33 shots as Victoriaville toppled the Mooseheads.

Pascal Laberge, Jacob Lapierre and Mario Huber also found the back of the net for the Tigres (5-5-1), who have won three games in a row.

Timo Meier scored for Halifax (2-7-2), while Kevin Resop turned away 18-of-24 shots in a losing cause.

PHOENIX 4 TITAN 1

SHERBROOKE, Que. — Chase Harwell had a pair of goals and Alexandre Lagace made 45 saves as the Phoenix handed Acadie-Bathurst its fourth straight loss.

Guillaume Gauthier and Julien Pelletier also scored for Sherbrooke (4-6-1), which snapped a three-game skid.

Vladimir Kuznetsov kept the Titan (2-7-1) from being shut out. Daryl McCallum stopped 24-of-27 shots through two periods of action before giving way to Reilly Pickard, who made 11 saves in relief.

WILDCATS 4 DRAKKAR 2

BAIE-COMEAU, Que. — Zachary Fortin made 21 saves and Adam Holwell had a goal and an assist as Moncton doubled up the Drakkar.

Kelly Klima, Will Smith and Cameron Askew supplied the rest of the offence for the Wildcats (7-3-0).

Fabrizio Ricci and Vincent Lavoie scored for Baie-Comeau (1-8-0). Evgeny Kiselev kicked out 22-of-25 shots in defeat.
