Lightning goalie Bishop starts Game 5; Drouin in

TAMPA -- Tampa Bay Lightning goalie Ben Bishop started Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Final against the Chicago Blackhawks at Amalie Arena.

Bishop took part in warmups, and after the morning skate said he was progressing from an undisclosed injury that prevented him from playing in Game 4. Backup Andrei Vasilevskiy, 20, made his first Stanley Cup Playoff start and made 17 saves in a 2-1 loss that tied the best-of-7 series 2-2.

Vasilevskiy played in Game 2 when Bishop left on two occasions, making five saves for his first NHL playoff win (4-3).

Bishop started Game 3 and made 36 saves in a 3-2 win, but there were clear signs he was hampered by an injury when he had difficulty getting up off the ice and did not leave his crease to play the puck as often as he normally does.

His status for Game 5 remained uncertain until warmups, when Bishop led the Lightning onto the ice.

Bishop is 13-9 with a 2.19 goals-against average and .919 save percentage in 23 playoff games.

Kristers Gudlevskis, who was the backup in Game 4, is scratched.

Lightning rookie forward Jonathan Drouin is in the lineup for the first time since Game 2.

The Lightning used seven defensemen and 11 forwards in the other three games in the series, with defenseman Nikita Nesterov in the lineup and Drouin scratched in those games.

The Lightning are 9-5 in the playoffs when they use seven defensemen; they are 5-5 when using six defensemen.
