Devils forward Gomez fined for elbowing

NEW YORK -- New Jersey Devils forward Scott Gomez has been fined $1,478.49, the maximum allowable under the Collective Bargaining Agreement, for elbowing Montreal Canadiens defenseman Alexei Emelin during NHL Game No. 1163 in New Jersey on Friday, April 3, the National Hockey League's Department of Player Safety announced today.

The incident occurred at 14:38 of the second period. Gomez was assessed a major penalty and game misconduct for elbowing.

The money goes to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.
