Mitchell breaks tie in third, RIT beats Minnesota State-Mankato 2-1 in Midwest Regionals

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - Josh Mitchell broke a tie in the third period and Rochester Institute of Technology beat top-seeded Minnesota State-Mankato 2-1 on Saturday in the Midwest Regional semifinals of the NCAA hockey tournament.

RIT (20-14-5) will face Harvard or Nebraska-Omaha on Sunday for a spot in the Frozen Four.

Jordan Ruby made 33 saves for RIT.

RIT's Alexander Kuqali opened the scoring early in the first period.

Mankato (29-8-3) tied it on Franklin Minnst's goal midway through the second.
