Blue Jackets forward Boll faces Player Safety hearing

Columbus Blue Jackets forward Jared Boll will have a hearing Thursday with the NHL Department of Player Safety for an illegal check to the head of Anaheim Ducks forward Patrick Maroon during a game at Nationwide Arena on Tuesday.

Maroon was hit by Boll at 4:02 of the second period in the Blue Jackets' 5-3 win. No penalty was assessed on the play and Maroon remained in the game.

The following grounds are being considered for supplemental discipline: illegal check to the head. However, the Department of Player Safety retains the right to make adjustments to the infraction upon review.
