TORONTO - Centre Nazem Kadri will be a healthy scratch Monday night when the Toronto Maple Leafs host the New York Islanders.

The move is punishment for Kadri missing a team meeting Sunday morning.

Interim coach Peter Horachek sent Kadri home Sunday after he was 20 minutes late to the team's practice facility and opted to not play Kadri against the Islanders.

Kadri said he overslept, accepted his mistake and the consequences that come with it.

Horachek referenced Kadri's "past" as something he brought up with the 24-year-old but didn't elaborate.

Zach Sill will move over to centre in Kadri's absence against the Islanders as Brandon Kozun returns to the lineup.

Kadri has 16 goals and 20 assists this season to stand fourth in team scoring.
