Bruins recall Malcolm Subban from Providence

BOSTON, MA - Boston Bruins General Manager Peter Chiarelli announced today, February 16, that the club has recalled goaltender Malcolm Subban from Providence. Subban will join the Bruins in Edmonton for the team’s practice at Leduc Rec Center on Tuesday, February 17. The practice is currently scheduled for 11:00 a.m. local but is subject to change.

Subban dressed as the back-up goaltender for four games with Boston after his first NHL recall on January 30.

Subban has played in 24 games for Providence this season where the 21-year-old goaltender has posted a 2.47 goals against average and a .920 save percentage, to earn a 10-10-3 record.

On January 28, 2015 the American Hockey League announced that Subban was selected as the CCM/AHL Player of the Week for the period ending January 25, 2015. Subban allowed just three goals on 91 shots in three starts that week, going 2-1-0 with a 0.99 goals against average and a .967 save percentage.

Subban appeared in 33 games with Providence in the 2013-2014 campaign, finishing with a 15-10-5 record while earning a 2.31 goals against average and a .920 save percentage.

The 6’2’’, 200-pound Toronto, ON, Canada native was drafted by Boston in the first round (24th overall) in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft.
