QMJHL Roundup: Domingue has SO winner to push Phoenix over Sea Dogs

SHERBROOKE, Que. - Kevin Domingue had the deciding goal in the shootout to lift the Sherbrooke Phoenix to a 6-5 victory over the Saint John Sea Dogs in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action on Sunday.

Daniel Audette scored two goals and assisted on two more in regulation for Sherbrooke (24-16-4), Cameron Darcy had a goal and two helpers, and David Storto and Gabriel Fontaine rounded out the offence.

Mathieu Joseph and Jason Bell had a goal and two assists apiece for the Sea Dogs (24-14-7). Bokondji Imama, Juraj Siska and Spencer Smallman also scored.

Phoenix goaltender Evan Fitzpatrick stopped 28 shots through regulation and overtime, and 3-of-4 in the shootout. Saint John's Alex Bishop made 17 saves over 65 minutes of play, and gave up two shootout goals on four attempts.

Neither team scored while on the power play. Sherbrooke was 0 for 2 while the Sea Dogs went 0 for 4.

Phoenix winger Owen Bennington was given a game misconduct at 5:18 of the second period after receiving his second major penalty for fighting.

ISLANDERS 3 REMPARTS 2

QUEBEC CITY — Filip Chlapik scored the tiebreaking goal at 10:20 of the third period to lift Charlottetown over the Remparts.

Alexandre Goulet had a goal and an assist for the Islanders (23-19-4) and Ross Johnston rounded out the attack.

Nikolas Brouillard scored and helped on Massimo Carozza's goal for Quebec (26-17-3), which has dropped back-to-back contests.

SCREAMING EAGLES 5 MOOSEHEADS 4 (OT)

SYDNEY, N.S. — Loik Leveille scored his second goal of the game 4:12 into overtime as the Screaming Eagles edged Halifax for their fifth straight win.

Phelix Martineau scored shorthanded in the first period to put Cape Breton (18-21-5) on the board, and Stephen Anderson and Colin MacSween supplied the rest of the Screaming Eagles' offence.

Timo Meier led the Mooseheads (22-18-4) with a hat trick, Danny Moynihan scored the other goal and Cavan Fitzgerald assisted on all four. Nikolaj Ehlers tacked on three helpers.

OCEANIC 7 WILDCATS 3

RIMOUSKI, Que. — Christopher Clapperton scored two goals and assisted on two more to power the Oceanic past Moncton.

Charles-David Beaudoin added two goals and an assist for Rimouski (29-12-3), which extended its winning streak to five games. Frederik Gauthier had a goal and a helper, and Tyler Bolland and Samuel Laberge also scored.

Liam Murphy struck twice for the Wildcats (29-13-3). Bronson Beaton added the other Moncton goal.
