Defenseman Nicklas Grossmann will miss approximately three weeks because of an upper-body injury, the Philadelphia Flyers announced Friday.

Grossmann was injured with 1:41 left in the first period of the Flyers' game Thursday against the Washington Capitals when he was hit into the boards by the Capitals' Tom Wilson. Grossmann remained down on the ice for several moments; he was able to skate off with help from trainer Jim McCrossin. Grossmann did not return to the game.

In 41 games Grossmann has a career-best three goals. He also has eight points while averaging 18:10 of ice time per game. His plus-5 rating is second among Philadelphia defensemen.
