The Philadelphia Flyers recalled forward Chris VandeVelde from Lehigh Valley of the American Hockey League, the team announced Wednesday.
VandeVelde scored two goals in the Phantoms' 5-2 win against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins on opening night. He had an assist and was minus-3 in 18 games for the Flyers last season, and scored 10 goals and 24 points in 41 games at Lehigh Valley.
The Flyers re-signed VandeVelde to a one-year, two-way contract on July 4. He was selected by the Edmonton Oilers in the fourth round (No. 97) of the 2005 NHL Draft.
