GLENDALE, Ariz. -- The Winnipeg Jets lost forward Evander Kane to a lower-body injury early in the first period of their game against the Arizona Coyotes on Thursday.

Kane had a knee-on-knee collision with teammate Mark Scheifele at the Arizona blue line and tumbled to the ice, holding the knee in pain. He made it to the bench and skated one shift after the injury before heading to the Winnipeg dressing room.

Kane did not come out for the second period, and the Jets said he will not return. He played three shifts and a total of 1:24 before leaving.
