San Jose Sharks General Manager Doug Wilson announced today that the club has signed forward Nikolay Goldobin to a standard, entry-level contract.

"Nikolay is a dynamic player with a high-end skill set and tremendous vision," said Wilson. "He's got great hockey sense which we feel will allow him to be successful."

Goldobin, the Sharks first-round selection (27th overall) in the 2014 NHL Draft, played for the Sarnia Sting in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) during the 2013-14 season. The 18-year-old forward recorded 94 points (38 goals, 56 assists) and 21 penalty minutes in 67 games, leading Sarnia in scoring while ranking seventh amongst all OHL players in points. He strung together a 22-game point streak from Nov. 14, 2013 to Jan. 11, 2014, registering 43 points (21 goals, 22 assists) and three four-point performances during that span.
