The Carolina Hurricanes hired David Marcoux as their goaltending coach, the team announced Tuesday.

Marcoux spent six years as goaltending coach for the Calgary Flames (2003-09), helping Miikka Kiprusoff become a Vezina Trophy and Williams Jennings Trophy winner, as well as a Hart Trophy finalist in 2005-06.

Marcoux's time with the Flames included working with Hurricanes goalie Cam Ward. Carolina and Calgary shared an American Hockey League affiliate, the Lowell Lock Monsters, during the 2004-05 season.

"David has 25 years of experience as a goalie coach, and his results speak for themselves," Hurricanes general manager Ron Francis said. "This completes what we feel is a very strong and experienced coaching staff."
