Bishop expects to be ready for Lightning camp

Tampa Bay Lightning goaltender Ben Bishop said Thursday he expects to be recovered from injuries to his elbow and wrist in time for training camp in September.

"Absolutely," Bishop told the Tampa Bay Times. "We'll be ready to go."

Bishop could not participate in the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs after dislocating his left elbow in a game April 8. The Lightning were swept by the Montreal Canadiens in the Eastern Conference First Round.

He described his elbow as 90 percent healed and said he plans to skate again in August.

Bishop also had surgery April 29 to repair a torn ligament in his right wrist he sustained in January, the newspaper reported.

"It's going well," Bishop said. "Slowly but surely, we're getting movement back in it. It's getting stronger each day."

Bishop is a finalist for the Vezina Trophy. He was 37-14-7 with a 2.23 goals-against average and .924 save percentage in a career-high 63 games this season.

Tuukka Rask of the Boston Bruins and Semyon Varlamov of the Colorado Avalanche are the other finalists for the Vezina, which will be presented at the NHL Awards in Las Vegas on June 24 (7 p.m. ET; NBCSN, CBC).
