USA Today hockey reporter Kevin Allen and Chicago Blackhawks play-by-play announcer Pat Foley were honored Thursday by the Hockey Hall of Fame.

Allen was announced as the winner of the 2014 Elmer Ferguson Memorial Award for excellence in hockey journalism, and Foley received the Foster Hewitt Memorial Award for broadcasting.

Allen, who has covered the NHL for 30 years, received the Lester Patrick Award from the League in December, honoring his outstanding service to hockey in the United States.

Foley recently completed his 31st season as the voice of the Blackhawks.

Allen and Foley were voted in by their respective associations and will receive their awards in Toronto on Nov. 17. They will be recognized as media honorees and have their plaques displayed by the Hall of Fame.
