Jets' Trouba leaves Worlds due to mild neck strain

Jacob Trouba's stint with the United States at the 2014 IIHF World Championship is over due to a mild neck strain, but the Winnipeg Jets said Wednesday the defenseman is expected to be fine for the 2014-15 NHL season.

Jets general manager Kevin Cheveldayoff issued the following statement on Trouba:

"Last week, following Team USA's game versus Latvia at the IIHF World Championships in Minsk, Belarus, Jacob experienced some discomfort in his neck. After consultation with the Team USA medical staff and officials, it was determined that he should return to Winnipeg as a precaution due to his previous injury history. Jacob flew to Winnipeg this past weekend and met with team doctors for a series of tests which revealed he had sustained a mild neck strain. This will not affect Jacob's offseason training or preparation for next season's training camp in any way."

Trouba had two goals and one assist for the U.S. in the preliminary round of the Worlds. He scored 10 goals and 29 points and had a plus-4 rating in 65 games as a rookie this season.
