Ducks goalie Andersen injured in Game 3 win

Rookie goaltender Frederik Andersen left Game 3 of the Anaheim Ducks' Western Conference Second Round series against the Los Angeles Kings midway through the third period with a lower-body injury and did not return.

Coach Bruce Boudreau said Andersen is day-to-day with a lower-body injury

Andersen, who stopped 22 of 23 shots, appeared to injure his right leg during a Kings flurry. He left the game with 9:58 remaining and the Ducks holding a 2-1 lead.

Jonas Hiller, who was the losing goaltender in Games 1 and 2 against the Kings, replaced Andersen and stopped seven of eight shots, allowing a goal to Mike Richards with 30.8 seconds remaining of what became a 3-2 victory for the Ducks. The goal meant that Hiller was credited with the victory, his first in eight career decisions at Staples Center; he is 0-5-2 there during the regular season.

If Andersen isn't ready for Game 4 on Saturday (9:30 p.m. ET; NBCSN, TSN, RDS), the Ducks are likely to recall rookie John Gibson from Norfolk of the American Hockey League. Gibson spent most of the season with Norfolk but was 3-0-0 with a 1.33 goals-against average in a late-season stint with the Ducks.

The Kings lead the best-of-7 series 2-1.
