Lightning's Bishop has successful wrist surgery

Tampa Bay Lightning goaltender Ben Bishop had a successful procedure to repair a torn ligament in his right wrist Tuesday at the Cleveland Clinic.

Bishop, who was named a Vezina Trophy finalist last week, will require 3-4 months of rehabilitation and is expected to be ready for Lightning training camp at the start of the 2014-15 season.

Bishop had the injury throughout the second half of this season and it was unrelated to the dislocated elbow that caused him to miss the entirety of the Eastern Conference First Round series against the Montreal Canadiens, in which the Lightning were swept in four games.

In his first full season with Tampa Bay, Bishop set career highs in games (63), wins (37), goals-against average (2.23) and save percentage (.924).
