Blue Jackets sign 2011 draft pick Tynan

Center Thomas Tynan signed a two-year, entry-level contract with the Columbus Blue Jackets on Tuesday. Financial terms were not released.

A third-round pick (No. 66) in the 2011 NHL Draft, the 22-year-old will report to Springfield of the American Hockey League on an amateur tryout agreement. He will be eligible to play in the Calder Cup Playoffs.

Tynan recently completed his senior season at the University of Notre Dame, where he led the Fighting Irish in scoring with 38 points (eight goals) in 40 games.

Tynan was the NCAA Rookie of the Year in 2010-11 and led the Central Collegiate Hockey Association in scoring as a sophomore with 41 points (13 goals) in 39 games.
