LOS ANGELES -- Toronto Maple Leafs goalie Jonathan Bernier left the game against the Los Angeles Kings on Thursday after the first period with a lower-body injury and did not return.

James Reimer replaced Bernier to start the second period and defeated the Kings 3-2.

Bernier made eight saves on 10 shots in the first period. One of those was a right skate kick save on Anze Kopitar. It was Bernier's first game in Los Angeles since he was traded from the Kings to the Maple Leafs last summer.

Los Angeles led Toronto 2-1 after the first period on goals by Marian Gaborik and Kopitar. Dion Phaneuf scored for Toronto.
