PHOENIX -- Anaheim Ducks forward Ryan Getzlaf did not return to the game Saturday against the Phoenix Coyotes because of a lower-body injury.

Getzlaf was hit in the right foot by a shot during the second period. The Ducks said he was held out for precautionary reasons.

Anaheim led 5-1 when Getzlaf left; the Ducks play Sunday night at home against the Detroit Red Wings.

"By the time he got back from the X-ray, which was negative, we were a third of the way through the third period," coach Bruce Boudreau said. "We figured it was better that he ice it and get ready for tomorrow. I'm sure if it was a different situation, he would have gone in."

Getzlaf, who scored his 23rd goal of the season midway through the second period, entered the game fourth in the NHL in scoring, with 52 points.
