UNIONDALE, N.Y. -- New York Islanders goalie Evgeni Nabokov left the game Monday against the Dallas Stars with 7:06 left in the first period due to a lower-body injury. He did not return and was placed on injured reserve after New York's 7-3 victory.

Nabokov appeared to hurt his right side after sprawling to make a save with 8:40 remaining. He stayed down for a while and received assistance from the trainer, but he opted to stay in the game.

However, Nabokov waved to the bench at a stoppage in play with 7:06 left and immediately went to the dressing room. Kevin Poulin replaced Nabokov, who made seven saves on eight shots.

The Islanders recalled Anders Nilsson from the Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the American Hockey League on an emergency loan after the game Monday. New York visits the Toronto Maple Leafs on Tuesday.

Nabokov missed 11 games earlier this season with a groin injury.
