Lightning's Bishop leaves game with injury

EDMONTON -- Tampa Bay Lightning goaltender Ben Bishop sustained an upper-body injury and was forced to leave the game against the Edmonton Oilers at Rexall Place on Sunday night.

Bishop was replaced at 4:18 of the first period by Anders Lindback after giving up a goal to Oilers forward Jordan Eberle on the first shot he faced.

Following the goal, Bishop skated over to the Lightning bench to have his right hand looked at. After consultation with the Tampa Bay training staff, he went to the dressing room and did not return.

Bishop will be re-evaluated Monday in Winnipeg. The Lightning will play the Winnipeg Jets at MTS Centre on Tuesday.

"I have no idea," Lightning coach Jon Cooper said when asked of Bishop's status. "I don't ask, so I can look you in the eye and say I don't know, so I don't know.

"We don't know, it's hard to speculate. I don't know what the injury is, but I don't think it's going to be major serious. I hope not anyway. But if it is, then [Lindback] is a proven goaltender in the League and he'll be fine. But let's make that determination when we find out what's wrong with him. I think it's way too early to speculate on what's going."

Bishop, 27, is second in the League in wins (22) and save percentage (.936). He leads the NHL with four shutouts.
