Patrick Mullen scores twice for Utica Comets in 4-2 win over Abbotsford Heat

UTICA, N.Y. - Patrick Mullen scored twice as the Utica Comets defeated the Abbotsford Heat 4-2 in American Hockey League play Wednesday.

Kellan Lain and Alex Biega also scored for the league-worst Comets (9-15-2).

Braden Lamb and Brett Olson replied for Western Conference-leading Abbotsford (20-8-2).

The Comets were outshot 8-3 in the third period but still managed a short-handed goal by Biega into an empty net at 19:02.

Joacim Eriksson stopped 26 shots for Utica, while the Heat's Joni Orti was pulled after allowing two goals on nine shots. Joey MacDonald took over and allowed one goal on 18 shots.
