The lower-body injury sustained by Columbus Blue Jackets goalie Curtis McElhinney against the New York Rangers on Thursday isn't long-term or serious, coach Todd Richards said Friday, but Mike McKenna will start Saturday against the St. Louis Blues and goalie Jeremy Smith has been recalled from Springfield of the American Hockey League.

The news was reported by the Columbus Dispatch.

McElhinney stopped 15 shots in one period against the Rangers before leaving the game. McKenna went the rest of the way and made 17 saves in a 4-2 win for the Blue Jackets.

McKenna saw his first NHL action since a relief appearance for the New Jersey Devils on Dec. 2, 2010. His previous NHL start also happened to come against his hometown team in St. Louis for the Devils on Nov. 20, 2010. McKenna made 24 saves in a 3-2 loss.

McKenna has a career record of 4-9-1 with a 3.41 goals-against average and .890 save percentage in 18 games with the Tampa Bay Lightning, Devils and Blue Jackets.
