Islanders recall Strome from Bridgeport

The New York Islanders have recalled forward Ryan Strome from Bridgeport of the American Hockey League. Strome could join the team in Arizona on Thursday against the Phoenix Coyotes.

Strome, 20, was named the CCM/AHL Rookie of the Month for November. He leads the AHL in scoring with 33 points (nine goals and 24 assists) in 23 games. He has 17 points (five goals and 12 assists) and a plus-11 rating during his current nine-game scoring streak.

The Islanders selected Strome in the first round (No. 5) of the 2011 NHL Draft. He played four seasons of junior hockey in the Ontario Hockey League, with 105 goals and 190 assists (295 points) in 225 regular-season games with the Barrie Colts and Niagara IceDogs.

He made his professional debut with the Sound Tigers at the end of the 2012-13 season, producing seven points (two goals, five assists) in 10 games.

Strome has represented Canada at the 2012 and 2013 World Junior Championships, scoring 15 points (seven goals, eight assists) in 12 games.
