Islanders' Clutterbuck off IR; Reinhart to junior team

The New York Islanders on Wednesday activated forward Cal Clutterbuck from injured reserve.

Clutterbuck has been out since sustaining a skate cut during a preseason game Sept. 17 against the Calgary Flames.

Acquired in a trade in June with the Minnesota Wild, Clutterbuck could make his regular-season debut for the Islanders on Friday against the Chicago Blackhawks. The 25-year-old forward had four goals and 10 points in 42 games with the Wild last season.

To make room on the roster, the team returned defenseman Griffin Reinhart to his junior team, the Edmonton Oil Kings of the Western Hockey League.

Reinhart, the fourth pick of the 2012 NHL Draft, had two points and a plus-2 rating in four preseason games, but was a healthy scratch in the Islanders' first three regular-season games.

The 6-foot-4, 205-pounder had 29 points and a plus-30 rating in 59 regular-season games with the Oil Kings last season, and seven points and a plus-5 rating in 12 WHL playoff games. He also played for Canada at the 2013 IIHF World Junior Championship, and was invited to Hockey Canada's summer evaluation camp for the 2014 WJC team.
