Winnipeg Jets win first game 5-4 in Edmonton but know they have work to do

WINNIPEG - It's hard not to like a win.

But Winnipeg Jets coach Claude Noel says his players know they were lucky to leave Edmonton with a 5-4 decision Tuesday night in their NHL season opener.

He praised some of the new additions to the team and was glad to see three lines score, including 2011 and 2012 draft picks Mark Scheifele and Jacob Trouba.

But trading scoring chances isn't what he or team leaders suggest is Winnipeg's path to the playoffs.

Centre Bryan Little scored his 100th goal Tuesday night and said the game was a lot sloppier than the Jets would have liked.

But he said both Scheifele and Trouba looked like players who had been around the league for a while and not rookies.
