The Florida Panthers have invited veteran forward Brad Boyes to training camp on a professional tryout. The 31-year-old appears on the team's camp roster, released Tuesday.

Boyes revived his career last season with the New York Islanders, scoring 35 points in 48 games playing on the team's top line alongside John Tavares and Matt Moulson. Those numbers came after Boyes had 23 points in 65 games in 2011-12 with the Buffalo Sabres.

If Boyes makes the Panthers, he’ll join a veteran group that includes Scott Gomez (33, signed in late July), captain Ed Jovanovski (37), Mike Mottau (35) Mike Weaver (34) and Brian Campbell (33).

In nine NHL seasons, Boyes has 168 goals and 407 points in 606 games with the San Jose Sharks, Boston Bruins, St. Louis Blues, Sabres and Islanders. He has three 20-goal seasons, topped by a personal-best 43 in 2007-08 with the Blues.

Defenseman Brett Clark also appears on the roster. The 36-year-old played eight games for the Minnesota Wild last season after playing 82 games in back-to-back seasons with the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Clark made his NHL debut in 1997-98 with the Montreal Canadiens and has played for the Atlanta Thrashers and Colorado Avalanche.
