KINGSTON, Ont. - A strong family connection might have brought forward Jake Gilmour to the Ontario Hockey League's Kingston Frontenacs, but it didn't keep him there.

Frontenacs general manager Doug Gilmour sent his son packing Wednesday, shipping Jake, goaltender Blake Richard and a conditional 12th round pick in 2015 to Niagara for the IceDogs 12th round pick in 2015.

Jake Gilmour was an eighth-round pick of the Frontenacs in the 2012 OHL Priority Selection from the Toronto Jr. Canadiens. He spent last season with the Brampton Jr. B Bombers where he picked up eight assists in 43 games.

Doug Gilmour played 20 seasons in the NHL, scoring 450 goals and adding 964 assists with St. Louis, Calgary, Toronto, New Jersey, Chicago, Buffalo and Montreal before joining the Frontenacs.
