Red Wings sign Andersson to two-year contract

The Detroit Red Wings agreed to terms with center Joakim Andersson on a two-year contract, the team announced Tuesday. The Detroit Free Press reports it's worth an average of $732,500 per season.

Andersson, 24, appeared in 38 games for the Red Wings last season and had three goals and five assists. He had 21 goals and 51 points in 73 games for the Grand Rapids Griffins of the American Hockey League.

The 6-foot-2, 208-pound native of Munkedal, Sweden, was selected by Detroit in the third round (No. 88) of the 2007 NHL Draft.
