Blue Jackets re-sign Goloubef to two-way deal

The Columbus Blue Jackets on Thursday announced they have re-signed defenseman Cody Goloubef to a one-year, two-way contract. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Goloubef, 23, appeared in 11 games with the Blue Jackets in 2012-13 and scored his first NHL goal Feb. 11 in a 6-2 win against the San Jose Sharks. He appeared in 38 games with the Springfield Falcons of the American Hockey League, totaling five goals, 13 points, 49 penalty minutes and a plus-9 rating. He had two assists and 10 penalty minutes in seven Calder Cup playoff games.

The Mississauga, Ontario native was the club's second-round pick (No. 37) in the 2008 NHL Draft.

Prior to turning pro, Goloubef played three seasons at the University of Wisconsin, from 2007-10, where he had 12 goals, 37 points, 138 penalty minutes and a plus-18 rating in 118 games. During his junior season, in 2009-10, he helped the Badgers reach the NCAA championship game.

He helped Canada win the gold medal at the 2009 IIHF World Junior Championship.
