The Winnipeg Jets announced Saturday they have agreed to a contract with defenseman Zach Redmond. No terms were disclosed, but the Winnipeg Sun reports it's a one-year deal that will pay him $715,000 at the NHL level.

Redmond, who turns 25 next week, made his NHL debut with the Jets last season, scoring a goal and adding three assists for four points in eight games. He did not play after being cut in the right leg by teammate Antti Miettinen during practice Feb. 21. Redmond was rushed to a hospital after lacerating the femoral artery and vein, just above the knee.

Redmond underwent three hours of surgery and six weeks of recovery before he was able to skate, but did not play again in the NHL during the season.

The Houston native, selected in the seventh round (No. 184) of the 2008 NHL Draft by the Atlanta Thrashers, has 16 goals and 50 points in 113 American Hockey League games since signing with the Thrashers/Jets franchise after playing four seasons of college hockey at Ferris State.
