Winnipeg Jets center Eric Tangradi agreed to terms on a two-year contract Tuesday to avoid going to a salary arbitration hearing that was scheduled for July 23. The terms of Tangradi's new contract were not disclosed, but multiple media reports said it's worth $1.35 million.

"Best news of the summer! Can't even describe how excited and thankful I'm to be a part of the Winnipeg Jets organization for the next 2 years!" Tangradi said via his Twitter account.

Tangradi, 24, had on goal and four points in 36 games with the Jets last season. He has nine points in 81 NHL games, including his first 45 with the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Jets forwards Bryan Little and Blake Wheeler, along with defensemen Paul Postma and Zach Bogosian, still are scheduled for salary arbitration hearings.
